Description
Aciclovir 5% Viatris is a topical antiviral cream used to treat localized cold sores (herpes labialis) on the lips. It contains aciclovir 5% (50 mg/g), an antiviral medicine that helps treat cold sore outbreaks.
Treatment is most effective when started at the first signs of a cold sore, such as tingling, itching, or redness.
Indications
Aciclovir 5% cream is indicated for the treatment of localized herpes labialis (cold sores) on the lips in adults and children aged 6 years and older.
Directions for Use
Method of administration: Dermal / topical use.
For adults and children from 6 years of age:
- Apply the cream to the affected cold sore lesions 5 times daily.
- Treatment should be started as soon as possible, preferably at the first signs of an outbreak.
- Apply at regular intervals throughout the day.
- The duration of treatment should not exceed 10 days.
Wash your hands before and after applying the cream to help prevent spreading the infection.
Contraindications and Precautions
Do not use Aciclovir 5% cream:
- In children under 6 years of age.
- If you are allergic or hypersensitive to aciclovir or any of the other ingredients.
- In or around the eyes.
- Inside the mouth or vagina.
- Do not swallow the cream.
This medicine is intended only for cold sores located on the lips. Avoid contact with mucous membranes and the eyes.
If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
In the absence of compatibility studies, this medicinal product should not be mixed with other medicinal products.
