The other components which enter into its formula are: propylene glycol, poloxamer 407, sodium lauryl sulphate, cetostearyl alcohol, petrolatum, dimeticone 20, liquid paraffin, purified water, glycerol monostearate, macrogol stearate 100. Excipients with known effect, as

Dosage of Activir 5% herpes cream

The herpes pimple cream should be applied to the herpetic lesions, but also around the lesions, 5 times a day.
The applications must be distributed during the day, and spaced out by at least 3 to 4 hours, without night application.

From the first itching or burning, even before the blisters appear, you must begin treatment. The latter is most effective if started at the first warning symptoms of a cold sore or cold sore outbreak.
It is important to wash your hands effectively and thoroughly before and after each application of Activir 5% cream on your cold sore, in order to avoid transmitting the infection.

The duration of treatment with Activir 5% cream should not exceed 5 days without medical advice.

Regarding the use of the pump, it is recommended to perform at least 3 to 4 slow and complete pressures, to prime the pumping device from the first use, thus ensuring optimal delivery of the product.

Activir cold sore contraindications

This medication should never be used in children under 6 years of age, or by intraoral, intravaginal and especially ocular application, or in the event of a history of hypersensitivity to aciclovir, or to one of its components.

Activir 5% cream contains propylene glycol, which may cause skin irritation, but it also contains cetostearyl alcohol, which may cause local skin reactions such as eczema for example.

In the event of aggravation of the cold sore or absence of healing after 5 days of treatment, it is necessary to interrupt the latter and consult your doctor immediately.

In order to avoid transmitting the virus, you must respect certain hygiene rules in parallel with your treatment: avoid close contact (a kiss for example) with those around you, never kiss a young child, wash yourself carefully hands in case of contact with the lesion, do not rub your eyes and eyelids with your hands, and do not moisten your contact lenses with your saliva, avoid touching or scratching the lesions.

Always seek the advice of your doctor or pharmacist if in doubt about the nature of your lesion.
In case of different localization of your herpes attack, never use Activir 5% cream and take the advice of your doctor.

If you are using or have recently used any other medicine, it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist, including if it is a medicine obtained without a prescription.

The use of aciclovir by the cutaneous route is possible during pregnancy, in compliance with the indications.
If a pregnancy is discovered during treatment, you must consult your doctor, as only he can judge the need to continue it.
Regarding breast-feeding, the latter is possible with Activir 5% cream if the maternal pathology allows it.
In general, you should always seek the advice of your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
