Alfa-Amylase 3000 U.CEIP/tablet Biogaran is a medicine for mild sore throats not accompanied by fever. It comes in the form of coated tablets.
Its active substance is Alfa-amylase (3000 U.CEIP for a coated tablet, or 2142.9 European Pharmacopoeia units). Its other ingredients are magnesium stearate, sorbitol, shellac, butyl methacrylate copolymer of (2-dimetilaminoethyl) methacrylate and methyl methacrylate 1:2:1 (eudragit E100), talc, gelatin, sucrose, gum arabic, titanium dioxide, orange yellow S (E110) and wax of carnauba.
Dosage of Alfa Amylase tablet Biogaran
It is 1 tablet, 3 times a day. The tablets are to be taken with meals.
This medication is reserved for adults. The tablets are taken orally with a glass of water. Do not chew the tablet.

The duration of treatment should not exceed 5 days without medical advice.
If there is no improvement or if symptoms persist, medical advice should be sought.

Lozenges like Euphon can be combined with these tablets if necessary.

Precautions for use of Biogaran Alfa Amylase 3000 tablet
You should never take this medicine if you are allergic to its active substance or one of its other components.

You should contact your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication.

In case of hypersensitivity, there may be allergic reactions, sometimes serious. In this case, you must stop treatment immediately and consult a doctor as quickly as possible.
You should consult your doctor if you develop general signs of infection, for example: high fever (above 38.5°C) and persistent (more than 3 days); occurrence of other symptoms such as severe sore throat or headache, nausea, vomiting, facial pain, pain or discharge from the ear; persistence of symptoms without improvement beyond 5 days.

You must inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or if you could take any other medication.
It also lets you know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you might be pregnant, or plan to be pregnant.
It is better not to use Alfa-Amylase 3000 U.CEIP/Biogaran tablet during pregnancy and it should not be used while breastfeeding.

If you have been informed by your doctor that you have an intolerance to certain sugars, you should contact your doctor before taking this medicine.

It contains orange yellow S (E110), an azo coloring agent, and can cause allergic reactions.

It contains 375 mg of sorbitol per tablet, which is equivalent to 19 mg/kg/day for a 60 kg adult taking 3 tablets per day. Sorbitol is a source of fructose. If you have been informed by your doctor that you have an intolerance to certain sugars or if you have been diagnosed with HFI, Hereditary Fructose Intolerance, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.

Side effects may occur after taking this medicine, such as vomiting and nausea. You should contact your doctor immediately if any of the following symptoms occur: rash, itching, difficulty breathing, drop in blood pressure, swelling of the face, lips, tongue. This may be a sign of a severe allergic reaction. In this case, you must stop the treatment immediately and seek medical advice as soon as possible.
