The drug Ambra grisea dose 15 CH takes its name from ambergris, the strain of animal origin, ambra grisea, which served as the basis for its development.

Ambergris comes from an extract from an intestinal concretion of the sperm whale mixing bile secretions and food ingested by the mammal.
Previously taken floating on the waves or directly from the animal after its death, this strain is now mainly synthesized chemically, particularly since the regulation of whaling, ratified after the Second World War.
Ambergris is used in particular in the perfume industry for its odorous properties.

Homeopathy also finds in Ambra grisea dose virtues capable of relieving the symptoms of certain diseases, or more precisely of triggering immune reactions in the body intended to help it heal itself. This pseudo-science is based, in fact, on the principle of similarities stated by Hippocrates in Antiquity and taken up between the 18th and 19th centuries by Samuel Hahnemann, the father of modern homeopathy.
