This Boiron homeopathic medicine is formulated from a plant strain, Berberis vulgaris, which is the scientific name for barberry.

Also called barberry, the barberry is a shrub in the Berberidaceae family.
This plant resides mainly on the limestone hillsides of northern France. It has for a long time been the subject of systematic eradication because of its quality as a host to black rust, a harmful fungus on most cereals and therefore crops.
