Hydrastis canadensis dose has as its active ingredient a strain of plant origin, goldenseal.

Goldenseal is an archaic plant belonging to the Ranunculaceae family. It is a perennial plant thanks to its underground stem, or rhizome. The main active substance it produces is an isoquinoline alkaloid, hydrastine, which is vasoconstrictor.
