Sanguinaria canadensis granules is a homeopathic medicine obtained from a strain of plant origin, Sanguinaria canadensis.

Sanguinaria canadensis is the scientific name for the Canadian bloodroot.
The Canadian bloodroot is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Papaveraceae family. Its geographical distribution, located mainly in the northeast of the American continent, gives it part of its name while the other refers to the red color of its juice or latex.
The composition of this plant is notably characterized by an alkaloid which, in high doses, is particularly toxic to the point of causing vomiting, burns to the mucous membranes and heart problems which can lead to death. This is Sanguinarine.

The extract used by homeopathy to make Sanguinaria canadensis is found in the rhizome. Once pillaged and left to macerate in alcohol, it is then diluted in a solvent and dynamized in order to make it lose its toxic effects while retaining an imprint of its active ingredients.
