Composition of Uricum acidum granules Boiron

The strain of the drug, Uricum acidum, is derived from uric acid.

In the body, uric acid is formed when specific molecules, purines, are broken down and excreted. It is normally eliminated by the body. If uric acid accumulates because it is poorly eliminated or, more rarely, due to too much consumption of foods rich in purines, it risks accumulating, leading to the formation of crystals in the joints. This is what we commonly call “gout”, characterized by painful inflammatory outbreaks.

To manufacture this medication, the Boiron laboratory goes through several stages, the first of which is the uric acid trituration stage. Once completed, this trituration is then diluted several times. This dilution will then be impregnated on granules composed of sucrose and lactose. These dilutions made to the hundredth are called CH, Hahnemann Centesimals, in reference to the founding father of homeopathy, Samuel Hahnemann.

The granules of this medication are taken orally. They are to be placed under the tongue and allowed to melt. They will need to be dissolved to administer them to a child under 6 years old.

Uricum acidum granules is contraindicated in cases of intolerance to certain sugars. It contains sucrose and lactose, excipients with a notorious effect.
