Calcium Vitamin D3 Biogaran 500 mg / 400 IU is a medicine composed of a combination of calcium and vitamin D. It is indicated in cases of calcium and vitamin D deficiency in the elderly, and in the treatment of osteoporosis when calcium and vitamin D intakes are insufficient.
It comes in the form of tablets to suck and its use is reserved for adults.
The active ingredients of Calcium Vitamin D3 Biogaran are calcium carbonate, 1250 mg (500 mg of elemental calcium) and cholecalciferol concentrate (400 IU of vitamin D3), for one tablet.
The excipients are composed of xylitol, povidone K30, lactose, aspartame, levomenthol, mint flavor, talc, magnesium stearate.
Composition of mint flavor: peppermint essential oil, gum arabic, maltodextrin and sorbitol.
Dosage of Calcium Vitamin D3 Biogaran 500 mg 400 IU
The usual dosage of Calcium Vitamin D3 Biogaran 500 mg / 400 IU is 1 tablet to suck morning and evening. The duration of treatment will be defined by your doctor, depending on your situation. Follow your medical prescription.
Precautions for use of Calcium Vitamin D Biogaran
The use of Calcium Vitamin D3 Biogaran 500 mg / 400 IU is contraindicated in the event of allergy to one of the constituents, in the event of prolonged immobilization, in the event of excessively high calcium levels in the blood or urine, and in the event of calcium lithiasis.
Due to the presence of aspartame in its formula, it should also not be used in cases of plenylketonuria.
Special precautions should be taken in the event of prolonged treatment: it is necessary to carry out regular checks of your serum calcium and calciuria in order to possibly readjust your treatment.
In the event of associated treatment with sodium fluoride, bisphosphonates or with an antibiotic from the tetracycline family, it is important to wait at least two hours between taking these medications and that of Calcium Vitamin D3 Biogaran 500 mg / 400 IU (3 hours with cyclines).
If you are taking medications such as, digitalis, cyclins, bisphosphonates, estramustine, iron salts and thiazide diuretics, you should tell your doctor.

This medication should be used with caution in cases of sarcoidosis or renal failure as well as in cases of intolerance to certain sugars (fructose, galactose, glucose).
Additional administration of calcium and vitamin D should be done under strict medical supervision.
In case of pregnancy and breastfeeding, this medication should be used on medical advice, do not exceed 1500 mg of calcium and 600 IU of vitamin D3 daily intake (i.e. 1 tablet per day)
