Donormyl 15 mg is a medication composed of doxylamine. It is recommended for occasional insomnia in adults.
Composition of Donormyl
Per scored tablet, this medication contains 15 mg of doxylamine succinate, its active ingredient. The other excipients of Donormyl are: Lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, macrogol 6000, color dispersion (hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E171), propylene glycol (E1520), purified water).
What is the dosage of doxylamine in Donormyl 15 mg?
Donormyl 15 mg is a medication for adults only. It is taken orally, to be swallowed with a little water.
It is recommended to take 1/2 to 1 scored film-coated tablet per day. In adults, the dosage can be increased to 2 tablets per day if necessary. However, for the elderly, and in cases of renal or hepatic impairment, it is recommended to take the lower dosage.
Donormyl tablets should be taken in the evening, preferably 15 to 30 minutes before bedtime.
As this medication is indicated for occasional insomnia, treatment should last between 2 and 5 days maximum. It is not recommended to exceed 5 days of treatment without prior consultation with your doctor.
Precautions for use of Donormyl 15 mg
As Donormyl contains doxylamine, an antihistamine, it should not be used in cases of allergy to antihistamines. Furthermore, it should not be combined with other medications containing this molecule in order to respect the maximum recommended doses.
Donormyl should not be used in combination with another H1 antihistamine or with other medications that cause drowsiness and therefore a risk of falls. It should be used with caution in the elderly. Taking Donormyl may cause side effects such as daytime drowsiness, constipation, and visual disturbances: for more information, refer to the medication leaflet.
Donormyl Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Donormyl can be used during pregnancy; however, it is recommended to consult your doctor before use. If you are breastfeeding, this medication is not recommended, as it may pass into breast milk.
Contraindications for Donormyl
