Gavisconell Mint Sugar-Free Oral Suspension is a medication available in single-dose sachets sweetened with sodium saccharin and belonging to the local antacid family .
This medication, reserved for adults and children over 12 years of age, is indicated for the treatment of heartburn (pyrosis), acid reflux and sour stomach. Gavisconell Mint forms a viscous gel on the surface of the food bolus and thus protects the esophagus in cases of gastroesophageal reflux . Symptoms can, for example, occur after meals or during pregnancy, or during inflammation of the esophagus.
One sachet of Gavisconell contains:
Sodium alginate.................................. 500 mg
Sodium bicarbonate.................................267 mg
Other ingredients are: Calcium carbonate, carbomer (974P), sodium saccharin, mint flavor, sodium hydroxide, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216), purified water.
Dosage of Gavisconell Sugar-Free Mint
For adults and adolescents over 12 years of age , the dosage is 1 sachet 3 times a day to be swallowed after the main meals and if necessary in the evening at bedtime . In cases of severe reflux or esophageal inflammation, the dosage may be doubled.
How to take Gavisconell Sugar Free
The treatment for heartburn is limited to 7 days , beyond which time if the symptoms do not improve, you should seek medical advice.
Do not double the dose if you forget to take it.
Remember to knead the sachet before opening it.
Precautions for use of Gavisconell Mint stick
This antacid treatment may be less effective if you have low stomach acid.
This medicine contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate and may cause allergic reactions.
Gavisconell Mint contains 142.5 mg of sodium per sachet (7% of the maximum recommended daily intake), so it should be taken into account by people who need to control their sodium intake or who suffer from heart failure. It contains 160 mg of calcium carbonate per sachet, which should be taken into account by patients with or who have had serious kidney disease.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications, as Gavisconell Mint suspension may interact with them and modify their action if they are administered at the same time. Therefore, the doses of the antacid and other medications should be spaced 2 hours apart.
This medication can be prescribed during pregnancy and breastfeeding , if necessary. Ask
your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medication.
