Description

GavisconPro Mint is an anti-reflux medicine in an easy-to-use single-dose sachet. It forms a protective layer that floats on top of the stomach contents, helping prevent acid reflux and keeping acidic stomach contents away from the esophageal lining.

It is indicated for the symptomatic relief of heartburn, acid regurgitation, and indigestion associated with reflux, including symptoms that may occur after meals, during pregnancy, or in people experiencing gastroesophageal reflux symptoms.

How It Works

After ingestion, GavisconPro interacts with the contents of the stomach to form a gel that floats above the stomach contents. This protective layer helps prevent gastroesophageal reflux. If reflux occurs, the gel can enter the esophagus and help create a protective barrier between the esophageal wall and irritating stomach contents. Its action is mechanical and does not depend on systemic absorption.

Indications

GavisconPro Mint is used for the symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux, including:

• Heartburn

• Acid regurgitation

• Indigestion associated with reflux

• Reflux symptoms occurring after meals

• Reflux symptoms that may occur during pregnancy

Active Ingredients

Each 5 mL dose contains:

• Sodium Alginate – 500 mg

• Potassium Bicarbonate – 100 mg

The product is supplied as a mint-flavored oral suspension.

• Calcium carbonate

• Carbomer 974 P

• Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218)

• Propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216)

• Sodium saccharin

• Sodium hydroxide

• Mint flavor

• Purified water

How to Use

Adults, including elderly people, and children 12 years and older: Take ½ of a 10 mL sachet three times daily after meals and, if necessary, at bedtime. For more severe symptoms, the dose may be increased to 1 full 10 mL sachet.

For children under 12 years of age, use only on the advice of a doctor.

For oral use. Tear the sachet along the perforated line and squeeze the contents directly into the mouth or into a 5 mL measuring spoon.

If symptoms have not improved after 7 days, consult a doctor.

Precautions

GavisconPro contains sodium, potassium, and calcium. Consult a doctor before use if you have been advised to follow a diet low in any of these substances, particularly if you have kidney or heart disease or are following a strict low-sodium or controlled-potassium diet.

Allow at least 2 hours between taking GavisconPro and certain other medicines, as the calcium and carbonate components may affect the absorption of some medications.

GavisconPro Mint may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding but consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medication.

Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. This medicine contains methyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoate, which may cause allergic reactions, including delayed reactions.

Possible Side Effects

Side effects are uncommon. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur. Other reported side effects include diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. If you experience signs of an allergic reaction or other concerning symptoms, stop treatment and consult a doctor or pharmacist.
