Product Description

Hexomedine Transcutaneous is a topical antiseptic solution containing 0.15% hexamidine diisethionate. It is intended as an adjunctive treatment for bacterial skin conditions and skin conditions that may become secondarily infected.

The solution has antibacterial and antifungal activity against yeasts and is designed for localized application to the skin.

Indications

Hexomedine Transcutaneous may be used as an adjunctive treatment for:

• Primarily bacterial skin conditions

• Skin conditions at risk of secondary infection

• Small localized superficial skin conditions

• Nail and periungual infections, such as panaris (whitlow)

For nail or periungual infections, it may be used as either a short-duration wet dressing or a local bath.

Directions for Use

For topical use only.

Use the solution undiluted twice daily by applying it directly to the affected area or by using local baths.

For nail and periungual infections:

• Wet dressing: Soak a sterile compress with the solution and apply for 30–45 minutes. Rinsing is not necessary.

• Local bath: Immerse the affected finger in the solution for 1–3 minutes. Rinsing is not necessary.

Always close the bottle securely after use.

After Opening

• The bottle may be kept for up to 15 days when the solution is applied to a sterile compress under hygienic conditions.

• When the bottle is used directly for a local bath, it should not be used for another purpose and should be discarded after a maximum of 5 days.

• Hexamidine diisethionate – 0.15 g per 100 mL (0.15%)

Other Ingredients:

• Propylene glycol

• Methylal

• Nonoxynol

• Ethyl alcohol 96.5°

• Purified water

Important Precautions

• For external use only.

• Do not use on mucous membranes or open wounds.

• Do not use for antisepsis before injections, sampling, or other invasive procedures requiring surgical antisepsis.

• Do not use to disinfect medical or surgical equipment.

• Do not apply over a large area.

• Do not use under an occlusive dressing.

• Avoid use on damaged or burned skin, as there may be an increased risk of systemic absorption.

• Do not use on infants or premature infants.

• Do not use simultaneously or successively with other antiseptics, as interactions may reduce their effectiveness.

• Do not use if you are allergic to hexamidine, diamidines, or any of the ingredients.

• This product contains propylene glycol, which may cause skin irritation.

• Stop use and seek medical advice if significant irritation or an allergic reaction occurs.

Use with caution during pregnancy or breastfeeding and seek medical advice before use.
