Lysopaine Honey Lemon throat lozenge is a medicine intended for children over 6 years old and adults. It comes in the form of tablets to suck. It is indicated as an adjunctive local treatment in cases of mild sore throat without fever. This medication has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus with a temperature of 35° C and contact time of 15 minutes.

Composition of Lysopaïne Sore throat Honey Lemon sugar-free lozenge

One tablet contains 1.5 mg of cetylpyridinium chloride and 520,000 FIP-Units (Fédération Internationale Pharmaceutique standard) of lysozyme hydrochloride, the two active substances in this medicine. Its other components are saccharin, magnesium stearate, honey flavor, lemon flavor and sorbitol.
Composition of honey flavor: flavoring preparation, corn maltodextrin, modified waxy corn starch E1450, sodium, sulphites.
Composition of lemon flavor: flavoring preparation, corn maltodextrin, gum arabic E414, ascorbic acid E300, butylated hydroxyanisole E320, sodium, sulphites, citral, d-limonene.

Dosage of Lysopain Honey Lemon lozenges

This medication is taken orally. The tablets must be allowed to dissolve in the mouth. It is recommended to take 3 to 6 tablets per day, making sure to distribute the doses regularly throughout the day and respecting a minimum period of 2 hours between each dose.
The treatment has a duration limited to 5 days.

Precautions for use of Lysopaine Honey Lemon throat lozenge

This medicine should not be used in children under 6 years of age.
It should not be taken in case of allergy (hypersensitive) to its active substances or to one of its other components (including allergy to lysozyme or egg).
If you develop fever, purulent sputum or discomfort when swallowing food or if symptoms worsen or persist after 5 days, you should consult your doctor.
This medicine should not be used at the same time as another medicine containing an antiseptic.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist before taking Lysopaine Honey Lemon throat lozenge.

In the event of intolerance to certain sugars or in the event of hereditary fructose intolerance, it is necessary to contact your doctor before taking this medication. It contains saccharin and sorbitol. The latter is a source of fructose.
The flavorings of this medicine contain sulphites. In rare cases, this can lead to bronchospasm and severe hypersensitivity reactions.
Furthermore, lemon flavor contains citral and d-limonene, which can trigger allergic reactions. It also contains E 320 (butylated hydroxyanisole), which may cause irritation of the mucous membranes.
This medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) sodium per tablet, which means that it is essentially 'sodium-free'.
