Oxomemazine UPSA Sugar-Free Syrup is a cough suppressant belonging to the antihistamine class.
It is indicated for the treatment of dry and tickly coughs in adults and children over 2 years of age, particularly when they occur in the evening or at night.
Per 100 ml of syrup: Oxomemazine 0.033 g
Other ingredients are: glycerol, liquid maltitol (E965), acesulfame potassium, citric acid monohydrate, sodium citrate, sodium benzoate, caramel flavor*, purified water.
*Caramel flavor: contains propylene glycol, vanillin, and 3-hydroxybutanone (acetylmethylcarbinol).

Dosage of Oxomemazine UPSA Sugar-Free Syrup
This cough suppressant syrup is for adults and children over 2 years of age only. The usual dosage for adults and children over 40 kg (12 years old) is 10 ml per dose, 4 times a day. For children under 12 years old, the dosage will depend on the child's weight. For a child weighing 13 to 20 kg (2 to 6 years old), the dose is 5 ml, 2 to 3 times a day. For children weighing 20 to 30 kg (6 to 10 years old), 10 ml of syrup per dose, 2 to 3 times a day, while for children weighing 30 to 40 kg (10 to 12 years old), the dose is 10 ml per dose, 3 to 4 times a day.
Syrup doses should be spaced at least 4 hours apart, and dosage is possible using the provided measuring cup. Treatment with UPSA Oxomemazine should be short and taken at the time of coughing.
If a dose is missed, do not double the next dose.
Contraindications for Oxomemazine Upsa Dry Cough Syrup
In case of allergy to oxomemazine or any of the other ingredients, in children under 2 years of age, in case of a history of agranulocytosis, difficulty urinating (prostatic or other disorders), at risk of glaucoma (high pressure inside the eye), or in case of taking medication containing cabergoline or quinagolide.
If the cough is accompanied by fever, pallor, or sweating, it is advisable to consult your doctor.
This syrup is not suitable for treating a chesty cough. It should also not be combined with a medication that thins bronchial secretions (expectorant, mucolytic).
UPSA Oxomemazine Syrup requires medical advice in cases of long-term liver or kidney disease, in elderly people prone to constipation, dizziness, or drowsiness and in cases of prostate problems, in children with asthma or gastroesophageal reflux disease, and in cases of serious heart disease or epilepsy.
This syrup causes drowsiness; do not combine it with other sedative medications or other medications containing oxomemazine. Furthermore, taking medications containing cabergoline or quinagolide (used to slow excessive prolactin production) is contraindicated with Oxomemazine Syrup.
During this treatment, avoid exposure to the sun or UVA rays.
This medication is not recommended for patients with fructose intolerance.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning a pregnancy, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
If pregnant, Oxomemazine syrup should not be used during the first trimester, and excessive use may cause harmful effects in the newborn.
Oxomemazine passes into breast milk, and its sedative properties mean this syrup should be avoided during breastfeeding.
