Biogaran Ibuprofen 200 mg sachets is a medicine that is part of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). They change the way the body responds to pain, inflammation and increased body temperature. It is used to treat mild to moderate pain for a short time, such as headaches, painful periods, toothache, fever, and pain related to colds and flu.
It can also be used, on medical advice, to relieve post-operative pain.
It comes in the form of sachets containing an oral suspension sweetened with liquid maltitol.
The active substance of this medicine is ibuprofen. One sachet contains 200 mg.
Its other ingredients are sodium benzoate (E211), anhydrous citric acid (E330), sodium citrate dihydrate (E331), anhydrous sodium saccharin (E954), sodium chloride, hypromellose 15 cP, xanthan gum (E415), liquid maltitol (E965), glycerol 99.8% (E422), strawberry flavor (which contains: substances identical to natural flavors, preparations with natural flavors, corn maltodextrin, ethyl citrate (E-1505), propylene glycol (E-1520) and benzyl alcohol) and purified water.
Dosage of Ibuprofen 200 mg Biogaran Conseil
It is imperative to always take this medication in accordance with the instructions in the leaflet or as directed by the doctor or pharmacist. Check with them if in doubt.
The lowest effective dose possible should be used for the shortest duration possible.
This medication is to be taken orally. You must mix the sachet well before opening it, following the instructions in the leaflet.
The contents of the sachet can either be taken as is or diluted in water. Taking with or shortly after a meal may delay the onset of action, but the medicine will be better tolerated if taken with food.
Adults and adolescents from 40 kg (12 years and over): initial dose of 1 or 2 sachets. If necessary, take one or 2 sachets every 6 hours. You should wait at least 6 hours between 2 doses and not exceed 6 sachets/day.
Children 20 to 39 kg (6 to 11 years): maximum daily dose of 20 - 30 mg / kg body weight divided into 3 or 4 single doses.
Children from 20 to 39 kg: 1 sachet up to three times a day depending on needs. Do not exceed 3 sachets per day. Wait at least 8 hours between two doses.
Children weighing 30 to 39 kg: 1 sachet up to four times a day depending on needs. Do not exceed 4 sachets per day. Wait at least 6 to 8 hours between two doses.
Elderly subjects: same dosage as for adults, but special attention is necessary.
Precautions for use of Ibuprofen 200 Biogaran Conseil sachets
This medication is intended for adults, adolescents and children weighing 20 kg or more, which is equivalent to 6 years and older.
Adults: if there is worsening or lack of improvement after 4 days in the case of pain and 3 days in the case of fever, you should consult your doctor. This medicine should not be taken for more than 7 days without consulting a doctor.
Children over 6 years old and adolescents: consult a doctor if the medication must be taken for more than 3 days or if it worsens.
In the event of an overdose in children, seek medical assistance immediately.
This medicine should never be used if you are allergic to ibuprofen or other NSAIDs, or any of its components. It should not be used if you have ever had shortness of breath, runny nose, asthma, swelling of the face, tongue or throat, or hives after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs.
It should never be used if you have already had perforation or bleeding in the intestines or stomach, linked to previous use of NSAIDs, or if you have already had recurrent bleeding or ulcers of the duodenum or stomach. It should never be used in cases of serious kidney, liver or heart disease, bleeding in the brain or other ongoing bleeding, severe dehydration or disorders in the formation of blood cells.
It should never be used during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy.
Patients with renal or hepatic impairment should consult their doctor before taking this medication.
You should discuss this treatment with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication if you have an inherited blood cell disease, a history of high blood pressure and/or heart failure, systemic lupus erythematosus [SLE] or mixed collagen disease, ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease, impaired kidney function, liver problems, taking other medications that may increase the risk of bleeding or ulceration (e.g. (e.g. oral corticosteroids), blood thinners, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, antiplatelet agents, another NSAID, if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, if a family member has had a stroke or heart disease, smoking, recent major surgery, dehydration, blood clotting problems, infection.
If you take painkillers for headaches for a long time, it can make them worse. Ask your doctor for advice and stop using this medicine. Regular use of painkillers can cause severe and long-lasting kidney problems. In people who have suffered from asthma or allergies, there may be difficulty breathing.
There may be an increased risk of allergic reactions in people suffering from hay fever, nasal polyposis or chronic obstructive airway conditions. Very rarely there may be severe hypersensitivity reactions. Stop treatment immediately.
This medication may mask the signs of an infection and thus delay treatment. It is therefore necessary, if you take this medication while you have an infection and your symptoms persist or worsen, to consult a doctor immediately.
In the event of a skin reaction (rash, mucosal damage, blisters or any other sign of allergy), stop using the medication and seek medical advice immediately.
Avoid taking this medication in case of chickenpox.
Do not exceed the recommended dose and duration of intake: NSAIDs/painkillers such as ibuprofen may be linked to a slightly increased risk of heart attack or stroke, especially at high doses. Gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration or perforation has also been reported with all NSAIDs. Treatment should be stopped immediately in the event of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration.
Patients with a history of ulcer, especially if complicated by hemorrhage or perforation, and the elderly should consider combination therapy with gastric protective agents. If there is a history of gastrointestinal toxicity, any unusual abdominal symptoms should be reported to the doctor, particularly at the start of treatment.
This medication may impact or be affected by certain other medications, including glucocorticoids, another NSAID, anticoagulant medications, antiplatelet agents, and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, medications that reduce high blood pressure, methotrexate, tacrolimus, cyclosporin, mifepristone, zidovudine, sulfonylureas, probenecid, and sulfinpyrazone, baclofen, ritonavir, aminoglycosides, digoxin, phenytoin and lithium, quinolone antibiotics, cholestyramine, voriconazole and fluconazole.
Ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice before taking this medicine with other medicines.
You should seek advice from your doctor if you become pregnant while taking this medication. It should never be taken during the last 3 months of pregnancy. It should only be taken during the first 6 months of pregnancy on medical advice and if absolutely necessary. This medication can be taken during breastfeeding for short-term use at recommended doses.
NSAIDs can reversibly reduce female fertility.
If you experience dizziness, dizziness, vision problems, or any other symptoms while taking this medication, you should refrain from driving or using machines.
If you have an intolerance to certain sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medication.
This medicine may have a slight laxative effect (energy value: 2.3 kcal/g maltitol).
